Tape around paper shapes
How to suspend the paper sheets in the atrium space.
mapping the wall shifts on paper to prepare for hanging paper shapes with monofilament
Running in the mornings by the river leads to the discovery of some kayak slalom gates suspended above a canal. The measured rods, the flow of water, indeterminacy and ambiguity of the rods reflected and broken on the surface leads to repeated attempts to capture this idea. Weather, light, water movement, and access to the shooting positions are all challenging partners. With this the video project begins.
Watercolor thresholds prefigure my recognition of the kayak gates. Interesting. Or maybe vice versa subconsciously.
Listening to a youtube lecture series on the History of Architecture provides an ongoing stimulation regarding the definition and syntax of visual structures. I’m astonished at how little I know about ‘reading’ architectural form as well as civic and natural spaces. Endlessly interesting subjects including forces and changes in culture, art, philosophy, and myriad frames of conceptual and literal reference points nourishes my process in so many ways.
Genius Locus- what is the GL of the KLI?
Replace Bronzino with Prodigal son at KunstH- the circular flow
opens up the idea of circulation through the dark to light spaces
Enabling Spaces and Tintoretto- inclusion- Staff interviews planned
Decision to use curving painter’s tape with marker on the edge to mark the locations of the paper units’ location on the ‘threshold’ doorway after the paper is removed. History, negative presence, maybe leave the outlines incomplete.
We are invited by Guido Florian to see ‘Sissy’ Austrian Folkdance at a theatre in the 2nd district and then have dinner at a Georgian restaurant. Beautiful, vulnerable, artful use of nudity to subvert the frozen, dead effectively meaningless cultural traditions that basically just reinforce and celebrate the dominant social structure and narrative. Visited the bar 33 floors up to see the city from above after.
